Now I'm going to refer you to a blog post I've done for ppp in the past:

^^ Hermione Berry who ran the career track tuesday, was really wonderful and gave this guide on guidelines on the creative cv, and swore by it so we went through this throughly.
NB: since finishing the CV I've asked Hermione if she wouldn't mind having a quick look at it, but I'm still waiting to hear back because I only thought of doing this a few days before deadline. (I just want the best for her I don't want people to laugh it at).

We found that because the american CV has to be on one page, they are so busy! So much information to take in. And realistically a potential employer is only going to spend ten seconds looking at it so how do you know they are taking in the best bits?
I also have come to appreciate from the session that a creative CV isn't always appropriate so I did relay this message to caris, and her actual CV is up to date, so that's good. This is because HR isn't run by creatives so they don't always appreciate them, which is why as a creative I still don't know how to feel about them, seriously how do you know when is the right time to have a creative CV, you just don't!
